Don’t be a tool – Get the best new music as you head back to school!

It’s finally September. And for millions of kids (and some wayward adults) that means only one thing – back to school! Every season has its own rituals and fall is most often defined by this time honored tradition of welcoming in a fresh new start- be it school, fashion, and now music.

While the summer is often thought to be a catalyst for music exchange - warm weather making concerts more accessible for different venues, and a general playful vibe- there is no reason that new music trends cannot continue to be explored in the cold weather. So this week is all about keeping that fun vibe going, whether its back to school or back to work, on demand music selections have got you covered.

All autumn long, let on demand music keep your party going. SoundWatch has several reasons (and accompanying soundtracks) for every occasion!

1. School Dances/Mixers/Welcome Back Parties

Fall parties are a great way to reconnect with friends and if you’re headed back to school, your calendar is sure to be full of fun events. Music Choice On Demand currently has lots of fun, funky playlists with something for everyone at the party! “Teen Choice” features hits from Katy Perry (who currently has the number one album in the country with Teenage Dream) and Justin Bieber- who, let’s face it, is probably the easiest choice to get the young lady party goers dancing. For more mature audiences,

Music Choice also features the playlist “All PIT…no BULL” with all of the best hits from Pitbull, a rapper known to get the party started with his grind-worthy beats and fresh, Latino infused lyrics. It’s no surprise that “Love The Way You Lie” took the number spot last week and there’s still plenty of time to catch this and all of your other favorite videos On Demand. If you’re throwing a party at home, music videos make a fantastic backdrop – providing ample conversation starters, great ambient noise, but without the real distraction of a full length TV show or movie! These popular playlists are sure to be crowd pleasers.

2. Impressing a new friend with Alternative Hits

Everyone likes to be the great discoverer of new things and on demand offerings give you easy access to some of the freshest acts right now. Check out the smooth sylings of Mike Posner – a little Jamiroquai, a little R&B, and lots of electronic make this new singer-songwriter a real standout of late 2010. J. Cole, the first artist to be signed to Jay Z’s label Roc Nation, has been touring in smaller venues since 2007 but has recently hit his stride with his debut studio album being released this fall. His lyrics may be harsh but Cole’s talent is undeniable.

For a more Euro-dance groove, check out Duck Sauce, funny sounding name for an awesome compilation band comprised of popular American DJ Armand Van Helden and A-Trak of Montreal. “aNYway,” the group’s first track is available on Music Choice On Demand so if you want something different definitely check these guys out!

3. Learning more about your favorite artists

After the party ends and you have more time to explore, kick back and relax with original music specials and behind-the-stage featurettes. Everyone likes to see their favorite artist in a different light and these specials provide informative and noteworthy album background. “Speaking Of…” a Music Choice original program gives viewers a more in depth look at their favorite artists.
